Hrithik and Barbara Mori at Kites Music Launch
The most anticipated movie of the year is Kites. Now the music of Kites if out and none other than Hrithik’s uncle Rajesh Roshan is the mucic maker.

Kites movie album has five songs. The lyrics are written by Nasir Faraaz and Asif Ali Beg. KK has movingly rendered two songs namely Zindagi do pal ki and Dil Kyun Yeh Mera. Tum bhi Ho Wahi is another number from Kites movie which is groovy with slight western influences. Vishal Dadlani , Suraj Jagan have lent their voices for this number. The song fails to capture listener’s interest and sadly doesn’t live up to expectations.

Kites, “In the Sky” is another song to look out for in this album. Though the song alternates between Spanish and English, it has a calming effect on the nerves. The starting two lines of the song remind one of John Lennon’s melodious numbers “Imagine”. The English lines in the song have been sung by Hrithik Roshan which is the surprise part and he does full justice to the song. Considering that he is not a professional singer, his efforts are highly commendable. Hrithik has only sung for 45 seconds in the song but it’s his voice all the way that catches attention.

Fire track from Kites bollywood movie is sure to set ones feet tapping. It sounds a typical dance number with techno beats and sound effects. The number is fast paced and energetic. It takes ages for the lyrics to arrive in this four and a half minute number. Likes of Rajesh Roshan , Vishal Dadlani ,Anirudh Bhola , Anushka Manchanda have pitched in their voices towards this number.

Rakesh Roshan said, “The songs are soft and melodious to suit the romantic flavor of the film. We recorded two songs after they were shot, which was quite challenging; I had not attempted this in 37 years of my career. But with Rajesh as the guiding force, everything was possible”

Hrithk Roshan : The Singer

Published: Apr 4, 2010 by admin Filed under: Exclusives Movies

Hrithik Roshan the singer
Kites director Anurag asked Hrithik Roshan to give his own vocals to a song in English for a particular song. Hritihk was initially apprehensive to it but Anurag told him that him doing it will make it look more genuine. A Nervous Hrithik had to do a lot of preparations for the song. “When we came up with this song Anurag suggested that Hrithik and Barbara should sing it. I wasn’t sure whether Hrithik would agree even though he is a good singer. When Hrithik heard the song he immediately agreed and started rehearsing, but Barbara was not available so we found a singer Suzanne to sing the song. Barbara heard the song later and loved it. Suzanne came back to the recording studio when Barbara was around and in Barbara’s presence, Suzanne did the Spanish portions again so that she got the pronunciations perfect.” father Rakesh Roshan added.

Hrithik started recording his songs at midnight and finished it by 4 am. “When Duggu does something new he always put his best foot forward. All of us at home are very proud of him, because he has done such a commendable job.” said proud dad Rakesh Roshan.

Hrithik said, “I was forced to sing. My uncle Rajesh Roshan (the music director of Kites) came up with this tune and Anurag had this ridiculous notion that I could sing. Anurag’s logic was — here’s a guy who can act and dance well. And, since he knew that I have some knowledge of music, he just felt that I could sing my own song as well.” Anurag says, “Having Hrithik sing is the bonus feature.”

Hrithik learnt to sing form the basics “I started early in the morning with my sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa. Right from the time I woke up, even when brushing my teeth, while taking a shower I would keep singing sa re ga ma and would raise my hands to reach the highest scale and lowest note. My niece had learned the piano and she had a little Casio player, which I then borrowed. I finally got myself a professional trainer Suzanne who did the female portions in the song. When the actual recording was to be done, I got them to switch off all the lights in the studio because I wasn’t being able to get my best out. Only when the whole studio was blacked out did every note fall perfectly into place. Actually we first made the scratch and I thought I would record a final track again. But everyone just loved the scratch and they did not allow me to improvise on it.” Hrithik added.
