Published: Feb 15, 2010 by admin Filed under: Exclusives Movies News
Shahrukh's fans did not sleep all night and were lining up in the queue to buy their tickets in sub-zero temperature in Berlin. People who arrived at 6 a.m were disappointed because it was all houseful. The online tickets for the superstar’s own people who phoned the Berlinale authorities five minutes after ticketing opened were told they were way too late. The films tickets were being auctioned on Ebay for 1,000 Euros, thats about Rs.60,000 and $ 1200 each.
Jenny Watkinson, assigned the ‘Shah Rukh Khan department’ in the International Relations office of Dieter Kosslick, Berlin film festival director, told IANS: “I’ve never seen anything like it. This year it’s expected to be even bigger than in 2008 (during ‘Om Shanti Om’). The online tickets for ‘My Name is Khan’ were sold out in five seconds.”

The film premieres in Berlin Friday with a red carpet at the prestigious Berlinale Palast theatre on Potsdamer Platz.
The film’s screening has police protection in Berlin. Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and diretor Karan Johar are here for the premiere of the film. India has much reason to celebrate at the Berlin International Film Festival here as the country has a historic nine feature films in the Berlinale. This is the 60th anniversary of the Berlin Film Festival, that opens Thursday and runs from Feb 11-21.

Shiv Sena back on the attack on "My Name is Khan"

Published: Feb 11, 2010 by admin Filed under: Exclusives Movies News

Things don’t seem to be going good for the King Khan. His latest movie “My Name is Khan” set to release on February 12th is in trouble. Shiva Sena has retracted their earlier statement in which they stated that they will not cause any trouble for the “traitor’s” SRK movie release. But now the Shiv Sena Leader Manohar Joshi has announced that they will not let the movie release at any cost.

Shiv Sena activists attached several theaters that will screen the movie. This happened barely an hour after Mumbai Police assured full security to the 63 cinemas screening the movie. Sena mobs attacked and damaged the booking windows of the Mehul Theatre in Mulund and staged noisy protests outside Shreyas Theatre in Ghatkopar, both in the suburbs, officials said.

Director Karan Johar had called on Mumbai Police Commissioner D Shivanandhan and returned satisfied by the police security promised for the movie. Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Himanshu Roy said anybody attempting to disrupt the film in any manner would be dealt with “very firmly”

“We shall also frisk and search suspicious persons coming to view the movie to prevent any untoward incidents inside the cinema auditorium,” Roy told a packed news conference.

Manohar Joshi reiterated in Nagpur that Shah Rukh must apologize for his remarks for advocating the cause of the Pakistani cricketers participating in cricket’s Indian Premier League (IPL).

Shiv Sena Supremo pardons Khan's Movie

Published: Feb 11, 2010 by admin Filed under: Exclusives News

Shahrukh Khan – “a traitor” – that’s what Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray called him. Good news for King Khan was that the Sena leader said that they will not block the screening of Khan’s latest movie “My Name is Khan”.

In an editorial in the Saamna, Thackeray said, “Sometimes we feel why are we doing all this? How do we awaken this Congress party? That’s why we have decided rule the way you want to. You have come to power using the machinery. Hence we are aware of how far reaching your power. You are using and will continue to use your power to brutally attack the Shiv Sena, Shiv Sainiks and Saamna. This is how you rule. So go ahead. Let Pakistani cricketer play anywhere they want in the country. Let Australia continue attacking Indians. Let Pakistan continue 26/11 like attacks anywhere in India. Let Shah Rukh Khan show his film My Name is Khan without security.”

“Traitors, with the blessings of the Congress, go ahead; the Shiv Sena will not block you. Why our Shiv Sainiks should be beaten up and arrested?” he added.
